PROGRAM 1
· School Name: McMaster University
· Program Name: Mechanical Engineering - Design and Manufacturing
· Program Description: McMaster University is collaborating with the University of Toronto, the University of Waterloo, the University of Western Ontario and Queens University to offer a Master’s Degree in Design and Manufacturing.
The program involves the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the School of Business, as well as the engineering business schools at Queens, Toronto, Waterloo and Western. It also draws on Materials and Manufacturing Ontario, a research "Centre of Excellence" in which McMaster is a partner. Collectively the group forms a virtual institute known as the Advanced Design and Manufacturing Institute (ADMI).
The five universities are pooling their considerable strengths in design, manufacturing and management to offer the new modular graduate program which is intended to be financially self sufficient. The students or their employers will be responsible for the full costs. The program will attract the very best engineers in industry and provide them with the opportunity to learn the newest design, manufacturing and management methods as well as the best practices to keep their industries at the forefront of new technological developments. Students participating in the program will most likely have graduated from a School of Engineering some four to five years previously and be employed in industry.
· Length of Program: Master’s programs usually require 1 - 3 years to complete.
· Annual Tuition Cost: About expenses information unless otherwise noted, tuition and fee information applies to 2 semesters or a full-year and does not include costs for books and supplies.
Prospective students should always contact the school for the most up to date information. Expenses information is collected over the summer months. Schools reserve the right to change their tuition costs and fees without notice.
. Pre-requisites courses: There are no noted academic requirements for this program
PROGRAM 2
· School Name: University of Ontario Institute of Technology
· Program Name: Automotive Engineering Technology
· Program Description: The MASc and MEng programs in Automotive Engineering provide students with a detailed understanding of advanced technologies and processes related to automotive systems. These programs allow students to study all of the main areas associated with automotive systems, including scientific principles, analysis techniques and design methodologies.
he programs are also designed to provide students with the broad and advanced education necessary for productive careers in the public or private sectors, as well as academia. Students will develop skills necessary for clear communication and responsible teamwork and to inspire professional attitudes and ethics.
MASc students obtain their degree through successful completion of a combination of coursework and a research thesis, while MEng students achieve their degrees through course-based learning, with the option to carry out a major project.
